I've been playing on the server for the past week or so, and I like the way things are set for now. But it's become clear that there are a lot of abandoned bases, and the map has gotten pretty large since it's inception, whenever that was.Anyone have any recommendations from past experiences that we could use? I WAS gonna offer up Wormhole X-Treme myself, but that shit hasn't been updated in two years and apparently broke completely with 1.6.1. So any input would be welcome. Look around here if you need to.

What does it do? and I'm not gonna lie, I do love the abandoned bases.

When it worked? Basically, Stargates. You'd build it out of obsidian, activate it, type in the name of another gate, and a portal of water would appear at both ends. But as previously mentioned, it's been abandoned for a while, which makes me a very, very sad panda. Shit was great.
And bonus points: They worked independently between dimensions. Standard nether gates are okay but unreliable as hell. With something like Wormhole nothing was stopping you from creating an obsidian citadel deep, deep inside the Nether and being able to access it from wherever you had another portal installed. Or creating a private vault to hold all your rare goods and trophies deep underground on the other ass-end of the world that could only be accessed by whoever knew the name of that specific portal. It's awesome.
Which is why, instead of sleeping like I should, I'm now doing research on potential alternatives.

Part of the problem here is that most portal addons have a bit of a learning curve. It's nothing that most in this group wouldn't have any trouble with, but it's an issue. Wormhole only required you to do three things: 1: Build the frame to exact specifications. 18 blocks of obsidian minimum, in an exact layout. Not to big af a hurdle. 2: Set the portal frame as completed with a console command, with an accompanying name to identify it. 3: Write the spanking name down. As far as user-friendliness goes, you couldn't find much better. And even further back in the past, it used to operate with signs, which could be right-clicked to change the destination. It was hard to mess it up after you made your first or second one. All of the ones I've seen so far are either completely barebones {click a sign/block to teleport to another sign/block} to needlessly complicated {which I won't try to describe.} There's no happy medium. And on top of that I've had some trouble finding any that would allow you to network like Wormhole did; most of them are fixed to two exclusive points you set yourself, and that's it. That'd be needlessly space-demanding. Edit: This section of Bukkit is for teleportation mods only, so seriously, if anyone wants to take a gander, have a go at it. I have to sleep for now. I'll look again in the morning.

Sounds pretty interesting. I know that Sabbaak has started to set a few warp points, which are a public version of that accessible from anywhere. Not the same, but fairly useful still.

Actually, it looks like it WAS updated earlier this year. I'm wanting to test it first and see if it really is broken or if people were just complaining because COMPUTERS ARE HARD. But I'm having difficulty without my old private server nearby to set up, and I'm having trouble wrapping my head around how to get single-player to load up mods these days.
